Supporting Our School Community

We pride ourselves on being able to support our children in school through a variety of ways;

New Arrivals Ambassadors At Crofton Hammond we understand that moving schools is a very important moment for children, so we like to welcome our new arrivals with a warm welcome. We have trained New Arrivals Ambassadors in each of our key stage 1 classes who know just what to do to make their new classmates feel welcome. They are available to buddy up at lunchtimes or to make sure everybody knows where they are going and what they are doing. They help the new arrival to make friends and feel confident in school.
Lunch Club As part of our provision for children who are eligible for income assessed Free School Meals, we run an extra-curricular club during the school day. The group will run for half an hour on a Wednesday after the children have eaten their lunch, from 12.30-1pm. A different staff member will run it each week and they will each bring something unique that they enjoy to the sessions such as baking, visiting the forest and art activities.
Service Club We hold a weekly, lunchtime club to support children who have parent(s) in the Armed Forces. The group is run by Mrs Bosustow who understands first-hand the impact this can have on children as her husband served in the Royal Navy. Our ‘Musketeers‘ have fun, play games and complete activities together. It gives them a chance to chat and find other children in situations similar to them. When a parent is deployed, regular communication is just one of the tools we use to support children. More information on how we support service families can be found on our Service Families Support Page.
Young Carers We offer a weekly, lunchtime club where children are given the opportunity to do a range of activities, eat their lunch in our ‘Rainbow Room’ and feel a bit special. This provides them with extra adult time in a small, dedicated group and is an opportunity for the children to share their experiences and realise that there are other children in situations similar to them.
Young Governors Children in each class have the opportunity to be the voice of their peers and contribute to decision making in school. Every year, each class vote for 2 children to be their elected young governor and support having their ideas heard.
