Reading

At Crofton Hammond we are passionate about the need for our children to develop a real love of reading.  Our curriculum is full of rich diverse texts that not only support our teaching of reading and writing but are also used in subjects such as Personal Development, Re, Geography and History.   We promote reading outside of the classroom through things such as World Book Day, reading challenges, book buddies, book sheds, book buses and collections of special books.  We have a super library that sits in the heart of the school, accessible and used by all children.  We have a range of high quality home reading books that fit all academic abilities and we highly value the home school partnership that we have with parents in supporting their children with reading at home.
