Computing

At Crofton Hammond Infant School in the EYFS one of our curriculum intentions is - To equip our children with the skills to use a range of technology to find out new information and express themselves creatively. Technology is utilised to support teaching and learning in maths, phonics, understanding of the world and expressive arts and design. Children are taught to show resilience and use technology to find new information, explore their own curiosities and demonstrate their understanding through the play based opportunities. In KS1 children are taught following the Teach Computing Curriculum, designed by the National Centre for Computing Excellence. The curriculum is delivered as a block of lessons each half term. The curriculum is delivered using laptops and iPads. Online safety is a school wide curriculum which ensures progression from EYFS to KS1 and delivers the objectives set in Education for a Connected World. It is delivered in each year group half-termly and through whole school Hammond Heart assemblies.
